5 Ways to Detox Your Soul

A lot of people think a busy life = a happy life but the truth is this statement couldn’t be any further away from the truth. There are many benefits of modern lifestyle over the previous way of living, however, with this modern lifestyle comes a lot of stress and health crisis. We have more things to enjoy in a significantly shorter lifetime.

Health has generally declined even though we have more qualified doctors. Less nutrition even though we have more health specialists and more food. We could keep this list going but I believe you get the point.

There are so many detox methods on the Internet, however, very few people remember that the soul needs detoxing as well. The modern lifestyle comes with many benefits, however; it also comes with a lot of burden on the spirit and thus needs to be cleaned from time to time. In this article, we will examine some ways we can lighten the spiritual load so we can keep soaring.

Here are 5 ways to detox your soul:

1. REMOVE NEGATIVE PEOPLE FROM YOUR LIFE

Katherine Schreiber of Psychology Today noted that toxic people have a habit of prioritizing their self-interests above that of everyone else either through actions of cruelty, passive aggression or just for the sake of it. They are incapable of putting the thoughts and feelings of others into consideration. They do not care much about the impact their actions might have on other people and disregard personal boundaries thus making them unable and unwilling to change.

Perhaps, this sounds like someone you know. Well, you have to realize that they will only change if and when they want to so don’t think anything you do or say will make them change. When you discover that there is someone in your life who constantly makes you feels anxious, depressed or just anything different the normal you, then you shouldn’t go out of your way to be around them. You might get sick or depressed just by being around negative people so you should do what your soul craves.

2. CLEAR OUT CLUTTER

Its been established that physical clutter adds to the build-up of stress and anxiety. This implies that it goes beyond just the physical space mess; it also messes up your mind and leads to mental anguish. Reducing property and keeping only what you need is one sure way of detoxing your soul. The clutter in the mind diminishes as we declutter our physical working or living space.

3. KEEP YOURSELF HYDRATED

Are you aware that up to 75% of Americans live in a chronic state of dehydration? This figure is from 2013 but the recent statistic can’t be too far from this. Most people have become addicted to carbonated and sugary drinks, which is capable of increasing dehydration and insulin spikes.

People think they can replace water with different drinks. Water remains the most natural drink on the planet, yet it feels like some people try to avoid it in favor of sugary and carbonated drinks. Drinking a minimum of one gallon of water per day will ensure that you get increased energy, better digestion, clearer skin, balanced gut bacteria and so on. This will make you feel better and consequently, give your soul the boost it needs.

4. EAT A HEALTHY DIET

Our mind gets a beating along with our body when we consume unhealthy foods. The importance of good food cannot be overemphasized. We won’t be able to survive without nutrients and the best source of minerals and vitamins is seeds, nuts, veggies, fruits and grass-fed meat. You will feel better physically and spiritually as well if you keep your diet in check.

5. MEDITATE

Speaking on only the benefits of meditation, we could write a lengthy book, however, for the sake of this article, we will keep things brief. See meditation as the equivalent of fruits and veggies except while fruits and veggies are of immense benefit to the body, meditation improves the mind.

Meditation can help reduce blood pressure and heart rate, improve concentration and relationships, enhances mental clarity and offers a feeling of inner peace. Just sit for a few minutes a day, ridding yourself of all thoughts and focusing on breathing can do wonders for your soul.
